Pricing and Quotes
How do you decide what a fair price is for emergency work?
We price the job in front of us, not a guess made over the phone. Once we've had a look, we work out exactly what's needed and price that. You get a fixed price before any work starts, backed by our Best Price Guaranteed, so nothing gets sprung on you afterwards.
Do you ever charge more once you're already on site?
Only if the job turns out to be genuinely different once we're inside the walls, and even then we stop and talk to you first. We'll explain what's changed, requote it, and get your yes before touching anything extra. You're never billed for a change you didn't agree to.
Do you give quotes over the phone?
We'll give you a fair ballpark over the phone so you know roughly what you're dealing with, especially for common jobs like a blocked drain or a leaking tap. For anything less straightforward, we'll confirm the exact price once we can see the job in person, before any work begins.
Can I get a written quote before you start?
Yes. Once we've assessed the job, we'll put the price in writing before we pick up a tool, so you've got it in black and white. That written number stands once you've agreed to it, with nothing extra added on afterwards.

Licensing Questions, Answered
Do you provide compliance documentation after gas work?
Yes, always. Any gas work is completed by a tradesperson licensed for that specific job, and you'll get the compliance paperwork once it's finished. Keep that documentation with your property records, it's proof the work meets NSW gas-safety requirements, and it matters if you ever sell or get inspected.
What does the Lifetime Labour Warranty cover?
Our Lifetime Labour Warranty covers the workmanship on the repair we carried out, for life. If something about our own work isn't right, we come back and fix it, no arguing, no fine print to dig through.
Do you carry public liability insurance?
Yes. Being licensed and insured for both water and gas work includes public liability cover, so you're protected if anything goes wrong on the job. We can give you our current certificate of currency if your strata manager or landlord needs it on file.
Do strata and body corporate properties need anything different?
Not from us, no extra hoops. We handle strata and body corporate jobs the same way, licensed, insured, and happy to liaise directly with a managing agent if that's easier for everyone. You still get the same upfront price and the same Lifetime Labour Warranty on the work.

Booking and Availability
What counts as an emergency?
Burst pipes, sewage backing up, no hot water, or a gas smell all count as an emergency in our book, anything actively damaging your home or unsafe to leave. A dripping tap almost always holds until a scheduled visit. Unsure which category yours falls into? Give us a call and we'll sort it out together.
Does the callback form actually work?
Yes. Fill in the form any time and a real person calls you back fast, day or night, we're open 24 hours for exactly this. If it's urgent, calling (02) 9140 0159 directly is usually quicker than waiting on a callback.
Can I book ahead instead of calling as an emergency?
Absolutely. Not every job is a right-now emergency, plenty of people book a dripping tap or a sluggish drain in for a time that suits them. Just say so when you call and we'll lock in a slot instead of treating it as urgent.
What information do you need when I call?
Just the basics: your address, what's happening, and whether it's actively causing damage right now. If you know where your water meter or gas shut-off is, that's useful too, but don't worry if you don't, we'll talk you through it.

Dulwich Hill's Plumbing Questions
Does salt air affect hot water units in Dulwich Hill?
Not really. Dulwich Hill sits inland with no real marine exposure, so salt air isn't the culprit it would be closer to the coast. Age is the bigger factor here. A good share of the suburb's hot water units are original to older homes and are simply due for replacement.
Does Dulwich Hill's soil affect underground pipes?
Yes. Much of the suburb sits on reactive clay, which shifts with the weather and moves whatever's buried in it. Older vitreous clay drainage cracks at the joints as the ground shifts beneath it, and that usually shows up as sluggish draining or a damp patch on the lawn before it becomes a full blockage.
How often should older Dulwich Hill homes get their plumbing checked?
If your home dates from the Federation era or earlier, an annual check is worth the half hour it takes. Original clay drainage and tired hot water systems don't give a warning before they fail, so a yearly look catches root intrusion and corroded joints early, before they turn into an out-of-hours callout.
Why do older homes in Dulwich Hill have more plumbing emergencies?
Most of the housing stock here is Federation-era, built well before modern pipe materials existed. Original galvanised and clay pipework can fail without warning after a century of use. Mature street trees, like the ones shading the strip near the Gladstone Hotel, send roots into old sewer joints, and ageing hot water units add to the mix, so this suburb sees more after-hours callouts than a newer one.
